A Prayer for our Nation

Turning Point Prayer

As we are all still whirling from the recent evil unleashed against a man who gave his life for the cause of telling others that Jesus is the way and God’s Word is the answer, I realize it was no accident that Charlie Kirk was the co-founder of an entity named Turning Point USA. Little did he know that his life would be taken to accomplish what he had set forth to do. Turn people to Jesus Christ.

The Lord is sounding the alarm. This is not the first time this nation has experienced the sounding of this alarm. We heard it on 9/11, during COVID. There have been wars and rumors of war. But yesterday, the alarm volume was turned up as the nation witnessed the violent silencing of a voice that spoke for what was right, beautiful, and holy. We watched evil’s attempt to snuff out what is good. Truly, we are at war.

What happened on September 10th was a call for people in our nation and all over the world to wake up to the alarm. That includes those of us in the Fargo/Moorhead area. We must put our feet on the ground and be AWAKENED to the Spirit. The voice of the Bridegroom is calling. 

If you are awake, if you are looking for answers, let this be your Turning Point.

Let us pray for ourselves, for our families, for our communities, for our nation, and for our world. Let us pray for a turning from evil to good, from darkness to light, and from comfort to sacrifice.

Prayer:

Awaken us, O God. Let us arise from our slumber and hear the call. We turn to you now in repentance. Come and cleanse us from our sin. We put away the distractions and turn our hearts toward you. We turn from our wicked ways, so that you would come and heal our land. Heal our city, heal our families, heal our nation. Silence the deceptive voice of evil that is being called good, and raise up righteous voices that will contend for the faith. You alone are our hope.

We pray your Word now for boldness:

Proverbs 28:1 (Prayer for Boldness)

"The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion."

Equip us and let us be bold as a lion. 

We pray for a turning of our own wills to yours, a turning of our city and our nation to you now!

Psalm 85:4-7 (Prayer of Restoration)

"Turn us, O God of our salvation, And cause thine anger toward us to cease. Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? Wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations? Wilt thou not revive us again: That thy people may rejoice in thee? Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, And grant us thy salvation."

Psalm 80:3 (Prayer for Favor)

"Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine and we shall be saved."

Lamentations 5:21 (Prayer for Renewal)

"Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old."

Psalm 69:9 (Prayer for Consuming Zeal)

Lastly, let the zeal of the things of God eat us up. Let us burn with passion and compassion for the Name of Jesus Christ and the truth of His Word. Let us be willing to give of ourselves even when it is not comfortable, even if it costs us everything.
